Acne

Acne vulgaris (or simply acne) is a long-term skin condition characterized by areas of blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, greasy skin, and possibly scarring. The resulting appearance may lead to anxiety, reduced self-esteem, and in extreme cases, depression or thoughts of suicide.

Acne is one of the most widespread and psychologically distressing chronic (persistent) skin conditions that exists.

The disease is caused by a sensitivity to androgen hormones. Specifically, it is sensitivity to the hormone derivative of testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, known as DHT – that triggers the condition.

There is conflicting research regarding the relationship between diet and acne. Types of Acne
