Fungal nail laser treatment

Our new laser fungal nail infection treatments offer an easy non-toxic option for getting rid of nail fungal infection. The Q-Switched ND:Yag Laser directly destroys the fungus. You must have a proper diagnosis of Nail Fungal Infection from a doctor or podiatrist. Usually toenails are affected but it can affect fingernails.

What causes Fungal nail ?

Fungal nail infections are often caused by the same fungus that causes athlete’s foot. Whilst they don’t pose a serious health risk, an untreated infection will not clear up and can spread.

Infected nails alter in appearance over time, becoming white or yellow, thickened and crumbly. You may also notice a musty smell. It’s an embarrassing condition that can be uncomfortable, even painful.

Until recently, treatment options have been limited to topical and oral medication, with disappointing results and potential side effects. Laser fungal nail treatment is much more effective when compared to more conventional oral drug treatments.

Fungal Nail Laser treatment is:

  • Safe & painless
  • No recovery or downtime
  • No side effects or drugs
  • Suitable for diabetics
  • Faster than other treatments

How does laser treatment work for fungal nails?

Clinical studies show that the laser kills toenail fungus and promotes healthy nail growth with a single treatment in more than 70% of cases. Laser treatment is safe, effective, and pain-free. Laser works by selectively targeting the fungal cells, heating them up and destroying them in the process.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of laser treatments you will require is determined by the number of infected nails, severity of the fungal nail infection, your age and general health.

A typical treatment plan doesn’t always need many laser treatments before you see positive results. It typically involves a course of 3 to 4 sessions, each lasting approximately 30 minutes. We provide straightforward aftercare advice, and you can resume your normal daily activity after each treatment without any discomfort.

How often are the sessions?

Every 2 week intervals

Are there any restrictions on my activity post procedure?
You can resume your normal activities immediately.

When will I see results?
You won’t notice anything immediately following treatment. However, as your nail grows out, the new nail growth should be clear. Toe nails grow slowly – especially nails infected with fungus. So, it may take 6-12 months for your toenail to clear.

Will the fungus come back?

There is no guarantee that nails will not become re-infected in the future. Reinfection can be acquired anywhere from your environment, for example, in damp areas such as public swimming pools. Consult with your healthcare professional to understand how to prevent toenail fungus from reoccurring.

When can I apply nail polish?
While it is important to remove nail polish, decoration and jewellery prior to treatment, you can reapply nail polish 24 hours after your last treatment.
