Short Wave Diathermy – Facial thread vein removal
Thread veins are formed by an increase in the size of small blood vessels beneath the surface of the skin. Sometimes referred to as telangiectasia or spider naevi, these tiny red, blue or purple veins can appear anywhere on the body but are most commonly found on the face and legs.
For thread veins on the face and d colletage area we use Shortwave Diathermy which is an advanced technique to reduce and eliminate, individual visible surface capillaries (thread Veins) and spider veins. Diathermy( sometimes called electro-coagulation) is the cauterisation by heat current, of the visible capillaries, which are in the epidermal layers. A very fine needle is used to prick the skin and then pass an electrical current through the vein which is heated and sealed. Over the course of a few weeks, the vein withers and disperses and becomes much less noticeable. A mild anaesthetic cream is used to numb the area prior to treatment.
